If you listened to FM radio in Bangladesh a few years ago, you probably remember Moshiur Rahman Shanto. He was the voice behind popular shows like Dhoka, Be Positive, and Police Diaries on Dhaka FM and ABC Radio. But these days, he has moved far beyond the microphone.
Shanto is now making a name for himself as an author and media entrepreneur who is taking Bangladeshi stories to the rest of the world. Since he started writing back in 2010, he has put out 20 books, 42 short stories, and quite a few radio dramas and telefilms. He recently released two English books called Highway and No Finish Line. This is a big step for him in reaching a global audience. His writing connects with people because he focuses on things we all experience, like love, resilience, and personal growth.
He is not just focused on his own career. Shanto started two platforms called Voice Factory Bangladesh and Turning Talks Bangladesh. These ventures help train the next generation of voice artists and storytellers in the country.
People outside of Bangladesh are taking notice. He has picked up several international awards over the last few years, including recognition from the Global Youth Parliament and the World Diplomacy Forum.
It is great to see a local creator refuse to be limited by geography. Shanto is proving that a good story can start in Bangladesh and still mean something to readers anywhere in the world.
